Research

We are thrilled to announce that our 3 surgeries, Civic Medical Centre, Spital Surgery and Eastham Group Practice, have joined forces to create a collaborative research hub called Tri-Health Alliance. By combining our resources and patient communities, we now have even greater opportunities to participate in cutting-edge medical research studies and clinical trials.
What Is Medical Research?
Through research, scientists and healthcare professionals discover new medicines and treatments, improve care pathways, and find more effective ways to prevent and manage illnesses. Participation in research may include trying new or existing medications, changing treatment plans, or altering lifestyle approaches, all under expert supervision. Every participant plays a vital role in advancing healthcare and shaping the future of medicine.
Tri Health Alliance Research
Every research trial we do here is different. Some trials may take 3 years, whereas some trials may take 30 minutes. Some trials may require you to visit your clinic once every few months for a check-up, and others can be completed over the phone or internet. Some involve trying new medication whereas others may involve giving feedback on medication you are already taking. As you can see there are many different types of medical research, and lots of ways that you can help contribute to the future of medicine. Some studies might also offer payment for taking part.

Previous Success in Research Trials
We’re proud to share that our clinics have been involved in numerous successful research projects in the past, working with major pharmaceutical companies, such as GSK and AstraZeneca, and with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). Some of the medicines and healthcare products used today were tested and evaluated right here in our clinics, thanks to patients who had chosen to participate in clinical trials. Your contribution may help turn promising ideas into real treatments that improve lives every day.
The NIHR along with ARC Northwest Coast support us here as well as all research studies across the region, trying to improve research access for everyone. You can find more information here https://arc-nwc.nihr.ac.uk.
Our Commitment to Your Health and Safety
Your health and safety are our top priorities before, during, and after any research trial. If you decide to participate in a research trial, our team of experienced doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals will closely monitor you throughout the entire process to ensure you receive the best possible care. Think of it as your very own MOT!!
Trust and Transparency in Study Invitations
When you receive a message from us, it is sent from a verified and secure number or email address, however we understand that receiving messages about studies or trials can sometimes raise questions, especially if they contain links. Rest assured, our team takes privacy and transparency seriously, and we want to make sure you feel confident when considering participation in any study.
We completely understand if you prefer not to click a link directly from a message. You can always visit the study information page directly on our website for more details, or ring your clinic and ask for the research team.
Join Us on This Journey
By working together, we can make a real difference in healthcare and bring new hope to patients everywhere, however, you have no obligation, nor will you be put under any pressure to take part in any research trial. If you don’t want to take part in research trials, please let us know and we will remove your name from the list of potential candidates.
Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued trust.
Kind Regards
