Training practice
We are a training practice which means we usually have one or more GP Registrars working with us. The GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor with at least 3 years experience in hospital and is learning about working in general practice.
The additional doctors work at the practice for up to one year and share all aspects of medical care with the Partners and the principal GPs.
During their time here we hope you will view them as we do, an integral part of our team.
We are also recognised by Liverpool University as a teaching practice for medical students. It is possible that sometimes you may be asked if a medical student can be present during your consultation with the doctor or nurse. If you can help in this way, the students are very grateful. However, if you would feel embarrassed or uncomfortable in the presence of a student, please do not feel under any obligation to agree.
GP net earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Spital Surgery in the financial year 2022/23 was £39,180 before tax and National Insurance. This is for one full-time GPs and four part-time GPs.
