Travel Vaccinations

Travel Vaccinations

global air travel

At the moment we have a limited stock of Hepatitis A vaccine because of supply problems so we may be unable to administer your vaccines here. In this case we would advise you visit a Travel Clinic such as Claughton Medical Centre or the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

If you require any advice on foreign travel please ring the information line at the Liverpool School of Tropical medicine on 0151 705 3100 whenever possible 8 weeks before leaving.

There is further information about vaccinations required for different countries on the links below:

Europe Europe & Russia North America North America
Central America Central America South America South America
Caribbean Caribbean Africa Africa
Middle East Middle East Central Asia Central Asia
East Asia East Asia Australasia Australasia and Pacific

Please also see advice from NHS Choices: Travelling in the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland or Travelling outside the European Economic Area

If you are moving abroad or are out of the country for more than 3 months, there is more advice Here

Please see new advice regarding rabies Rabies-information for travellers and Lyme Disease Lyme Disease-Tick awareness for travellers

If you think you may need travel vaccinations, you will need to complete a Travel Health Questionnaire (see below). This will assist the nurse in organising the right vaccines for you and your trip.

Please note: if you are travelling outside Europe, you will need to contact the School of Tropical Medicine  on 0151 705 3100 for advice.

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.

Once we have received your completed Travel Health Questionnaire, we will contact you to make an appointment for your travel vaccines. It is important that you are booked in at least 8 weeks before you travel if you are going outside Europe. This is because we may need to order stock and some vaccines will need to be given over a course of a few weeks.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
